A New house in Herrnhut!

The first morning we were able to go inside and clean the house!

Since the early days of YWAM Herrnhut, we have been in the constant search for more space. Always renting apartments  as homes for students and staff. Using every square inch of usable space that might be turned in to a classroom, art studio, or bed room!

With every endeavor to develop our own property being unsuccessful,  we have been stuck creating temporary solution after temporary solution.

7 months ago, we received some surprising news! We were contacted by a man from another part of Germany who has owned a house in Herrnhut for the last few years, and that he would like to donate the house and property to YWAM Herrnhut!

After a few months of processing, we received the keys to the house last week! It is a beautiful house with multiple apartment units inside, some have already been renovated and never used! Others are in need of a little more work, but overall the house in in very good condition and will not require too much time before staff and students can move in.

The house has been vacant for a number of year, and is in need to fresh coating on the walls and new flooring.  Last week we started to clean in out, scrape the walls, and rip up carpets. Every apartment in the house was left empty, except for one. One apartment had previously been lived in by a 'hoarder' (a person who never throws anything away), and was filled with more trash and junk than I have ever seen in one apartment.

After sitting for years, it also smelled... worse than any dumpster on a hot summer day. Armed with rubber gloves and trash bags, the staff of YWAM Herrnhut went in to action. Bagging and  cleaning out all the junk that was inside!

So now renovations continue! We hope to have everything done by September, when we have 200+ DTS students rolling in the Herrnhut for the Fall schools! God has amazing timing. Even though the new property is a massive blessing, it still doesn't solve our housing problem. We are still needing to rent multiple apartments for student housing, but this house is a wonderful beginning to the many new properties and houses still to come...
